Where Our Timber Comes From

A solid timber cabinet that lasts forty years is the most environmentally sound piece of furniture you can buy. Everything below follows from that one idea.

Responsibly managed forests

Our American oak, walnut, ash and cherry come from North American hardwood forests, where annual growth has exceeded harvest for more than half a century. These are not tropical hardwoods and they are not old-growth. Our mills work to chain-of-custody documentation, and we can supply it on request for any piece in the range.

Finishes you can live with

We finish in low-VOC penetrating oils rather than solvent lacquers. Nothing in the range is finished with a formaldehyde-based coating. The oil is food-safe once cured, which matters if a sideboard is where your family serves from.

Built to be repaired

Solid timber can be sanded, re-oiled and re-jointed. A damaged drawer front can be replaced rather than the whole cabinet. We keep spare parts and we will send you finishing oil free for the whole warranty period. The point is simple: we would rather you never had to buy this piece twice.

Less packaging, fewer trips

Running our own metro fleet lets us consolidate deliveries instead of handing every carton to a courier network. Cartons are recyclable, and our crews will take the packaging away with them on delivery if you ask.
